We are Winners! Youth Partnership Program

Youth participation in community cleanups has been proven to result in long-term behavioral change in the way kids address environmental issues, such as littering and illegal dumping, and impacts their actions with regard to the proper disposal of solid waste.

Participation creates an awareness of these environmental issues. Once that awareness has occurred, it becomes an ingrained part of a child’s knowledge. Another result of participation in community cleanups is the sense of accomplishment and sense of community ownership that is created through the activity.

UWS dedicates up to $5,000 per year to our We are Winners! Youth Partnership Program and partners with beautification programs in Valencia and Sandoval Counties to implement the respective programs in each county.
